Trevor St Baker's Journey: A Chronological Snapshot
1960s – 1970s
Trevor St Baker began his career shaping Australia's energy future by leading innovative planning roles in Queensland's government-owned electricity utilities. Notable achievements included founding Queensland’s first power station planning department (1971) and Energy Resources Division (1975), which deregulated fuel procurement and secured key coal supply contracts.
1980 - 2000s
In 1980, St Baker founded ERM Power, which evolved into a major player in Australia’s energy landscape. As Executive Chairman, he spearheaded private power generation projects, including Queensland’s Oakey power station and several gas-fired stations, contributing to 50% of Australia’s new power generation during the 2000s.
2006 – 2017
St Baker transitioned ERM Power into energy retail, becoming Australia’s fourth-largest electricity retailer by 2010. The company also expanded into the U.S. market. After listing on the ASX in 2010, he stepped down in 2017 following a successful tenure.
2013 – Present
Through Sunset Power International, St Baker acquired Delta Electricity and its Vales Point power station in 2015. His leadership reinvigorated legacy coal assets while diversifying into energy innovation through the St Baker Energy Innovation Fund, which supports cutting-edge clean energy technologies like EV chargers and printed solar cells.
Philanthropy and Recognition
A committed philanthropist, St Baker co-founded the St Baker Wilkes Indigenous Educational Foundation. Recognized for his service, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2016.
2023 - Present
In a joint venture with battery industry veterans, St Baker founded the first LFP factory in the Philippines.
